Miami could be one of the cities to host the World Cup 2026

Few cities in the United States live as intensely the World Cup as Miami, which welcomes immigrant communities from several Latin American countries that participate in the tournament.

And the chances of the city, that is included in the joint between the United States, Mexico, and Canada, to host the competition in 2026 rests in a decision to be made on June 13th, in Moscow, by the United Bid Committee (UBC). The city’s mayor and board of commissioners approved the city’s participation unanimously and now are waiting for the final result.

“Canada, Mexico, and the United States have come together to present a joint offer that offers FIFA and its member associations the power of unity, the promise of certainty and the potential of an extraordinary opportunity,” said John Kristick, executive director of United Bid.

“We believe that the combination of our 23 existing world-class stadiums, 150 existing elite training facilities and our modern and connected transport network can help FIFA achieve new public and revenue records,” he added.

The bid, known as “The United,” will make use of stadiums and existing facilities, a turning point in trying to win the dispute with Morocco. The organizers predict that more than 5.8 million tickets will be sold for the tournament, generating more than $ 2 billion of revenue.

The United States would organize all games from the quarterfinals but the opening day of the tournament will have games in each of the three host countries.
