Take a look at the Jean Nouvel’s Monad Terrace in South Beach

New renderings were unveiled from Pritzker Prize-winning Jean Nouvel’s first project in Miami, Monad Terrace, while the works on site are in full swing. Designed in collaboration with Kobi Karp, the building is set to rise on West Avenue in South Beach, setting a new architecture standard and climate resilience for the city.

In the renderings, we can see the angular facade and its customized “honeycomb screen” integrated with the glass curtain system that will significantly reduce glare and heat without blocking the view.

The abundant native vegetation throughout the site and the elevation of the balcony will provide an improvement in air quality, as will the extensive “water garden” consisting of an artificial central pond, the swimming pool, and several smaller pools. Bringing light and water, glass and steel, gardens and facades, the building will create an effervescent atmosphere that Nouvel called the “reflection machine.”

The 14-story complex features 59 residences, ranging from two to five dormitories, have interiors also designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel. Four penthouse units will include their private pools.

The project secured $62.5 million, followed by another $137 million in construction financing. The project is on schedule with completion planned for summer 2019.
