Hurricane Dorian: Floridians should feel the winds on Sunday

Hurricane Dorian turned officially a Category 3, making it a major hurricane, with a suspected landfall by Tuesday morning, right along the line within Martin and Palm Beach Counties as a powerful Category 4 storm.

As the hurricane approaches the coast, more updates are being released by the National Hurricane Center. As of Friday at 2 pm, Dorian was strengthening in the warm Atlantic waters, with maximum supported winds topping at 115 miles per hour.

“Dorian is anticipated to remain an extremely dangerous major hurricane while it moves near the northwestern Bahamas and approaches the Florida peninsula into early next week,” forecasters wrote.

The latest updates show the storm is predicted to slow down when it arrives on Florida’s coast, that could mean it will stalls out and drop a lot of rain, enough to be measured in feet. The National Hurricane Center also said that the southeast coast could see anything from six to 12 inches of rain, and some areas could be getting up to 18 inches.

There are no storm surge predictions for Florida as of now.
